Dennis' Biography
Leading actor Dennis Quaid possesses many star qualities; he has the class, integrity and heart of "old" Hollywood heroes such as: Jimmy Stewart and Cary Grant. He is handsome, well built, charming, versatile and at ease in front of the camera. He seems to challenge himself with each and every role and does a remarkable job. He has the ability to make the role his own and make it honest. His most recent hit The Rookie - based on the life story of Jimmy Morris, not only has it showcased his talent as an actor but proved to Hollywood that maybe they had overlooked this "diamond-in-the-rough." Dennis is a native of Houston, Texas; Dennis is the son of an electrician. He launched his acting career in high school, and in college enrolled in a drama program only to drop out at age 20 and follow his big brother, Randy Quaid to Hollywood. After an entire year of unsuccessfully searching for an agent and bothering producers for a role, Quaid finally succeeded winning the role of a small-town boy in 9/30/55 (1977). It was an inauspicious debut; however, it did lead to other roles in youth-targeted features. Quaid gained his first notice in the coming-of-age drama Breaking Away (1979), but did not get his first big break until he played astronaut Gordon Cooper in The Right Stuff (1983). Quaid has subsequently went on to work consistently in a wide variety of film productions. When not acting, Quaid has proven himself a talented singer/songwriter. He has played musicians in three films including, The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia (1981) and Great Balls of Fire! (1989), in which he played wild man Jerry Lee Lewis. Quaid has also contributed to the soundtracks of a few of his films. He is also currently touring with his band, The Sharks and have recently released a CD.
Dennis is also involved with the International Hospital for Children, which is based out of New Orleans. Visit their website: http://www.theihc.org/ for more information on what they do and what you can do to help.
